They had a roller coaster 2-0 ride over Green Buffaloes in Kitwe and this might just be the beginning of a fairy tale season for the reds of Wusakile.
Nkana has by fat assembled the most balanced diet of a team-building into this season. Not taking anything away from the likes of ZANACO, ZESCO and GREEN EAGLES, Nkana looks a cut above the rest.
What is so special about the 2019-20 Nkana squad
Nkana had a good side last season but their weakest link was a defence that was loose and a blunt front line. Coming into this season Nkana has simply gone for these two injections into their ailment and they look good to GO.
Haron Shakava
The former Gor Mahia captain is one of the best signings of the season. Shakava is not the only experience but a pound to pound hard puncher and no-nonsense center back. He is ruthless in the air and magnificent on the ground at the same time as he commands his ground forces with his own rules.
With Shakarva and Musa Muhammed in central defence then Ben and Ramadan on the left and right defensive wings respectively, the door seems shut and the keys are lost.
Mbombo Idriss Ilunga
Call him anything you want but Mbombo is a monster in his own rights, once he starts scoring, he doesn’t just stop. Kabwe Warriors Fans will give a better account of his mental problems when he gets gutted with the spirit of net bursting.
He hit 21 goals for Kabwe Warriors, had a season to remember at ZESCO and sent Nkana into CAF before he left. And now he is back to finish what he started.
With the flamboyant Mubanga Kampamba feeding his hunger for goals, Nkana might just get it.
On the super division par, ZESCO United has assembled a health side but the greatest landmine they are standing in is a front line that is not gelling quickly. Of the front line of Kasumba finds a working chemistry with the rest of the team, Nkana will need grace for a bloody fight.
ZANACO is another stump in the way of Nkana but the Kola front line cant be reliable.
As for Green Eagles, that draw against Kabwe Warriors in their back yard asks a lot of questions about how they will balance continental ambitions and the league. Their depth is questionable. They might need to pick one between the league and CAF.
