Transfers and Signings: Mines United Begins With Gaza -Mines United FC has ushered in a fresh chapter by announcing the appointment of Christopher ‘Gaza’ Tembo as the club’s new head coach. The announcement was made on 29th June, 2025, with club officials, including Chairman Mathew Mohan and CEO Micheal Musonda, present during the unveiling.
Tembo takes over from Geoffrey Hamakwenda, who mutually parted ways with the club. In a heartfelt gesture, Mines United expressed gratitude for Hamakwenda’s service and wished him success in his next journey.
As a debutant in the Zambian Premier League (ZPL) Super League, Mines United is banking on Coach Tembo’s tactical experience and continental exposure to lead the club through its formative top-flight campaign.
Tembo, no stranger to Southern African football, previously led Malanti Chiefs in Eswatini to become 2024/25 National First Division Champions. He also had a coaching spell at Manzini Sundowns, underlining his depth in player development and squad management.
Club executives are confident the new coach will bring glory and purpose to the newly promoted side. “We welcome Coach Tembo to the Mines United family and look forward to this exciting new chapter under his leadership,” read part of the club’s statement.
