ZESCO Ndola Girls made a forceful statement in their debut at the CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifier 2025 with a convincing 3-0 victory over Namibia’s Beauties FC on Friday.
Midfielder Avell Chitundu was the star of the show, not only opening the scoring in the 21st minute but also walking away with the Player of the Match Award. Her performance was a perfect mix of energy, control, and creativity — exactly what the Zambian champions needed on their regional debut.
The goals kept flowing with Penelope Mulubwa converting a penalty in the 42nd minute before Enelesi Phiri added another from the spot just before halftime to seal the win.
With three points in the bag, ZESCO Ndola Girls now turn their attention to a bigger test — Mamelodi Sundowns, whom they face on Sunday at 15h00.
The victory not only boosts their confidence but also sends a clear message that Zambia’s champions are in South Africa to compete, not just participate.
