Hildah Kangwa Elite Ladies Transfer

Elite Ladies Sign 13-Year-Old Hildah Kangwa in K117,000 Transfer

Hildah Kangwa Elite Ladies Transfer – Elite Ladies FC have made a significant investment in Zambia’s youth football market by signing highly-rated 13-year-old Hildah Kangwa from Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA) Queens FC in a deal valued at approximately K117,000 (about US$6,200).

The transfer is particularly remarkable because of Kangwa’s age and provides another indication of the growing value being attached to young talent in Zambian women’s football.

Under the reported structure of the deal, K100,000 goes to BUSA Queens FC, while K10,000 is allocated to the academy from which BUSA originally recruited the youngster. Kangwa and her representatives will also receive a signing-on package worth more than K6,000.

For Elite Ladies, however, this appears to be more than simply buying a promising 13-year-old. They are investing in a player who has already demonstrated considerable ability at international youth level.

Why Elite Ladies Have Invested in Kangwa

Kangwa’s reputation grew considerably during the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship COSAFA qualifiers in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Representing Zambia’s Under-15 Girls team, she emerged as one of the outstanding players of the competition.

She scored Zambia’s opening goal in the 27th minute of their 2-0 semi-final victory over Malawi before Zambia defeated hosts South Africa 1-0 in the final to claim the regional championship. Kangwa subsequently walked away with the Girls Player of the Tournament award.

CAF later singled her out as one of Zambia’s key players ahead of the 2026 continental Schools Championship, noting that Zambia’s Under-17 technical staff were monitoring players emerging through the schools football programme.

Her performances also pushed her beyond schools football. In February 2026, while still at BUSA, Kangwa was included among the forwards in Zambia’s provisional Under-17 squad for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

She continued playing an important role for BUSA during 2026. In April, Kangwa was described as the team’s Under-15 playmaker as BUSA Queens won the SKF qualifying tournament to secure a place at the Gothia Cup in Sweden.

A Transfer That Says Big About Youth Development

Perhaps the most encouraging part of the K117,000 transaction is not simply its size.

It is where some of the money is going.

BUSA Queens receive the main transfer payment, but K10,000 going further down the development chain to Kangwa’s earlier academy recognises the role played by the people who identified and developed her before she became a nationally recognised prospect.

That is important for Zambian football.

For years, youth academies have developed players only to watch them move upwards with little financial reward. A system in which development clubs can receive compensation gives academies an economic reason to continue scouting, coaching and developing young footballers.

Elite Ladies are effectively betting on what Kangwa could become rather than simply what she is today.

At 13, there remains a very long road between being an exceptional youth player and becoming an established senior footballer. Development must therefore remain the priority ahead of expectations created by the size of the transfer.

But Kangwa already has something that cannot easily be manufactured: performances against some of Southern Africa’s best players in her age group.

Elite Ladies have now paid for the opportunity to oversee the next stage of that development.

For a player barely into her teenage years, K117,000 is quite a statement of confidence.
