The estimated reading time for this post is 145 seconds

Zambia’s top 5 August 2022. From Kwazulu Natal to Bern in Switzerland, Sassuolo in Italy to Aberdeen in Scotland, and to the mineral-rich Mabanga of Solwezi, Zambian football lovers had an intoxicating weekend of football therapy and we take you through the top five performances of Zambian players.

  1. Super Frankie

Frankie Musonda was solid and played another 90 minutes for his AYR United who are perched at the top of the league table with 8 points. AYR United collected maximum points on the road after beating Cove Rangers 1-2. Their next fixture will be a home match against third-placed Dundee United. Musonda has played four matches for AYR and AYR has not lost any of the last four the Zambian has been involved in.
  2. Hail Miguel

Miguel Chaiwa’s imposing and quick-witted presence in the Young Boys back four was again at the fore over the weekend as the impressive anchor man – cum – right back put up a deafening ninety minutes shift for Young boys who put Schoenberg to the chop with a 10-1 bashing. Chaiwa scored the 5th goal for Young boys opening his goal account in the Swiss league.
  3. Some SAMU Things

Former Green Buffaloes center forward Friday SAMU finally ended his four games goal drought when he leveled matters for Maritzburg United in the 80th minute against Chipa United. Samu has been impressive for Maritzburg throughout the start of the season but has been unlucky in front of goal.
He has kept gaining the much-needed adaptability and the goal was an announcement of his firm resolve that better days are coming

Trigger-happy and free-scoring 15-year-old Lineker Mbesuma scored another hattrick for his Warriors F.C that beat Student F.C in the South African youth league clash. The son of former Zambian international Collins Mbesuma has been a star on the ascendancy and under the watch of Sundowns and Kaizerchiefs. Strong, sleek, and lethal, Zambia must be considering him for the forthcoming Under 23 Qualifiers against Liberia.

Abraham Kayanga of Lumwana Radiants draws the closing line for our top five Zambian performers of the week. Abraham Kayanga scored a quick Brace for Radiants in Mabanga as the Mabanga boys put Green Eagles to the sword outclassing their visitors by 3-1 in a stupendous four-goal thriller. Abraham gets into the second round of the Zambia Super league as league’s top scorer with two goals and we keep monitoring his progress.
