Makungu Seals 2025 IRH-Mopani Challenge Cup: Full-time Aggregate: Wanderers 2-0 Nkana
Mufulira Wanderers have clinched the IRH-Mopani Challenge Cup in classic Mighty fashion, defeating Nkana FC 1-0 in the second leg and sealing a 2-0 aggregate triumph over their arch-rivals.
Coming into the clash with a narrow advantage from the first leg at Nkana Stadium, the pressure was on—but it was Wanderers who played with composure and grit in front of their home crowd.
They nearly broke the deadlock early. Patrick’s free kick in the 9th minute stung the gloves of Nkana’s keeper. At the other end, Mbombo had a golden chance in the 16th minute but fired his header over the bar.
A controversial moment arrived in the 33rd minute when Wanderers appeared to have won a penalty, only for the referee to signal a free kick instead. Chilangwa stepped up, but his attempt flew just wide.
The breakthrough finally came late in the game. Collins Makungu delivered the decisive blow, sending the fans into celebration and giving Wanderers breathing space on aggregate.
Nkana tried to rally—Apanane’s stunning free kick nearly caught the Wanderers keeper off guard—but nothing would stop the Mighty men for the challenge.
