Nkana Queens Steal the Spotlight: It was a packed football showdown at Shinde Stadium, but make no mistake—Nkana Queens were the real headliners. With a commanding performance across two legs, they secured the 2025 IRH-Mopani Challenge Cup in style, proving that the rise of women’s football in Zambia is unstoppable.
Women’s Final:
Mufulira Queens 1-2 Nkana Queens (Second Leg)
Aggregate: Nkana Queens 5-1 Mufulira Queens
Goals: Jennifer Mwewa (Mufulira), Abigail Sampa (Nkana)
Having already thumped Mufulira Wanderers Queens on 19th July in the first leg at Nkana Stadium, the Kalampa Ladies came into the return leg with swagger—and delivered. Goals from Abigail Sampa and company sealed a 2-1 away victory, topping off a 5-1 aggregate triumph.
Jennifer Mwewa pulled one back for the hosts, but it was a mere consolation. The trophy, the bragging rights, and the moment belonged to Nkana Queens.
Men’s Final:
Mufulira Wanderers 1-0 Nkana FC (Second Leg)
Aggregate: Wanderers 2-0 Nkana FC
Goal Scorer: Collins Makungu
In the men’s encounter, Mufulira Wanderers did just enough to see off Nkana FC, courtesy of a single goal from Collins Makungu. Adding to their 1-0 first-leg win, Wanderers walked away 2-0 aggregate winners—securing the IRH-Mopani men’s title before a buzzing Shinde crowd.
Nkana’s performance was surprisingly sluggish in both legs, while Wanederers had the ball, confident and perfecting the style. Nkana had energy but lacked touch and convincing finishes. They have a lot to work on as the Zambia Super League edges closer in a fortnight.
Two finals. Two champions.
But the loudest cheer? That’s reserved for Nkana Queens, who made their statement with class, goals, and a silverware-worthy performance.
