Power Dynamos Red Arrows CAF 2026/27 – Zambia’s representatives in the 2026/27 CAF interclub competitions learnt their preliminary-round opponents, with Power Dynamos drawing Sudanese giants Al Merreikh in the CAF Champions League while Red Arrows will face FC Rouge of Madagascar in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The CAF draw was conducted on 6 August, pairing Power Dynamos with Sudan’s Al Merreikh and Red Arrows with Fc Rouge
The draws set up contrasting opening assignments for the two Zambian clubs as they begin their respective continental campaigns in September.
Power Dynamos Draw Al Merreikh
Zambian champions Power Dynamos face a challenging start to their CAF Champions League campaign against experienced Sudanese side Al Merreikh.
The Kitwe giants will travel away for the first leg during the 4–6 September window before hosting Al Merreikh in Zambia between 11–13 September.
Should Power Dynamos progress, they will face the winner between JS Saoura of Algeria and Horoya AC of Guinea in the second preliminary round.
The first leg of that round will be played between 16–18 October, followed by the return leg from 23–25 October.
Power head into the competition with valuable continental experience after reaching the CAF Champions League group stage last season. They will be hoping to build on that run and secure another place among Africa’s leading clubs.
Red Arrows Face FC Rouge
In the CAF Confederation Cup, Red Arrows have been paired with Madagascar’s FC Rouge in the first preliminary round.
The Airmen will have the advantage of starting at home, with the first leg scheduled for 4–6 September. They will then travel to Madagascar for the return fixture between 11–13 September.
Progress from the tie would set up a much bigger test, with South African giants Kaizer Chiefs waiting in the second preliminary round.
Red Arrows return to CAF interclub competition for the first time since 2024, when they were eliminated from the CAF Champions League by DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in the second preliminary round, losing 4–1 on aggregate.
The club was recently granted a CAF Club Licence for the 2026/27 season, confirming its eligibility to represent Zambia on the continental stage.
With Power Dynamos looking to repeat last season’s Champions League success and Red Arrows targeting a strong Confederation Cup run, Zambia will have two clubs carrying the country’s hopes when CAF interclub football gets underway in September.
