The recent surge, occurrences, and spread of COVID-19 in the Zambian community has necessitated the Football Association of Zambia to close the league on August 6th, 2020. The current league will be concluded on August 6, 2020 after all the teams have played their Week 27 round of matches. Accordingly, champions will be declared for both the FAZ MTN Super Division and FAZ Eden University National Division One. The league only resumed on 18th July under strict guidance but the confirmed cases have soared standing now at 5,555 with 149 deaths. The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has appointed Sydney Mungala as acting Communications Manager. This follows the exit of Mwazi Chanda who is on administrative leave. Mungala has served as Digital Media Officer at FAZ from February 2017 to date. He has also been producing content for the FAZ online platforms that includes Facebook, Twitter and the Website. He holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Media and Communication Studies from the University of Zambia and a Diploma in Journalism from Evelyn Hone College. Mungala also served as sports journalist at The Post Newspapers from 2006 to 2011 and later joined the Bulletin&Record Magazine. FAZ is hopeful that Mungala will use his experience in the sports fraternity to help promote the image of the association. For and

The week 30 deciding fixture involving Chimwemwe Chiefs of Kitwe and Chingola Leopards ended in unexpected circumstances as the game was abandoned in the 94th minute after the Chiefs scored.
