Yes they have done it Zesco Ndola Girls storm into COSAFA Women’s Champions League Final.
Zesco Ndola Girls have announced themselves in style, reaching their first-ever COSAFA Women’s Champions League final after a dramatic 2-1 victory over South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in the semis.
This was more than just a win—it was payback. Sundowns had beaten Zesco in the group stage, but when it really mattered, the Ndola girls flipped the script.
Who Are Zesco Ndola Girls?
Boitumelo Rabale gave Sundowns the lead just before halftime (45’+), but the Zambian outfit came back with fire in the second half. Eneless Phiri leveled things up in the 53rd minute, and just when the clock looked set to drag the game into extra time, Fridah Kabwe struck in the 89th minute to seal a historic triumph.
The victory means Zesco Ndola Girls, on their debut COSAFA outing, have booked their very first appearance in the final. While Zambia has been represented before—most notably by Green Buffaloes who even won the title in 2022—this is Zesco’s maiden breakthrough on the big stage.
For Zesco, this moment is huge. Not only did they topple a continental powerhouse in Sundowns, but they also proved that Zambian women’s football has depth, quality, and fearless ambition.
Now, all eyes turn to the final when they play Gaberone United Ladies. whose semis results were threatening Gaborone United Ladies FC 3 (Ontlametse 16’, 88’, Maponga 43’) Costa Do Sol 1 (Latifo 45’). Zesco Ndola Girls will be carrying the hopes of the nation as they chase continental glory.
