Chiyangi Returns: In a bold move to revive their competitive edge, Green Buffaloes Football Club have reappointed seasoned coach Agrey Chiyangi on a two-year contract. The unveiling was presided over by Zambia Army Commander, Lieutenant General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele at Army Headquarters, marking a significant turning point for the military side.
This will be Chiyangi’s second stint with the Buffaloes, and his return is being welcomed as a strategic decision aimed at restoring structure, discipline, and a fighting spirit within the squad. Known for his tactical prowess and no-nonsense approach, Chiyangi brings decades of Zambian football experience back to the Commanders’ bench.
Lt Gen Zyeele, who also serves as Patron of the club, expressed full confidence in the new coach, calling on both players and staff to rally behind Chiyangi’s leadership. “Excellence in football must mirror our excellence in military duty,” he stated, emphasizing the Army’s commitment to success on and off the pitch.
Also unveiled at the same ceremony was Colonel E. C. Bwalya, who takes over as the new Chairman of Green Buffaloes. His leadership is expected to further strengthen the club’s administrative foundation ahead of what looks to be a high-stakes season.
With pre-season already underway in Mufulira, the Chiyangi–Bwalya era officially begins, bringing with it new expectations, sharper focus, and a clear mission: bring the Buffaloes back to glory.
