How will Zambia lineup with Boyd Musonda

The precarious Zambia Under 23 side leaves for Congo Brazzaville with a cagey 2-1 lead and Boyd ‘Tanker’ Musonda of SC Sfaxien has been recalled in Chambeshi’s efforts to restore order in the Zambian midfield.

So much is at stake and Chambeshi needs to have his troops understand the magnitude of this encounter.

Zambia missed out from the Under-20 Afcon, missed out from the Under-17 Championships, there was no representation at the Under-20 World Cup and the Chipolopolo didn’t qualify for the previous edition of Africa Cup last year.

The nation is starved, the country is hungry and they can’t bear any more mediocrity.

The boys are free to go to Congo and be as selfish as they want, they can be as disjointed in midfield as they can afford, they are free to miss as many chances as they would want to but in everything, they will do in Congo Brazaville, they must qualify.

The mission is as simple to understand as that: Qualify for the Under 23 AFCON in Egypt. Zambia carries a slender 2-1 lead and the team that goes through qualifies for the Under 23 championships in Egypt where the top four teams will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

But how will they line up?

The back four is likely to stand unshaken with MOSES Nyondo and captain Sakala in central defense. KEBSON KAMANGA will man the left full-back line while Shemmy MAYEMBE will be on the opposite right.

Boyd Musonda comes in to find a remedy to the defensive midfield cancer and he will likely take over from ENOCK Mwepu. ENOCK Mwepu moves to his natural number 8 in the central attacking midfield.

Playing away in Congo, the boys will need to be compact and cautious in midfield and Banda will still be as useful as the earth in the midfield.

Klings Kangwa is likely to miss out after limping off with a knock on his ankle and Harrison Chisala will be likely to start in the round robbing free role. It will be crucial in giving the team some bitting power and cutting edge going forward.

Upfront, Patson Daka, and Fashion Sakala will act as tips of the spear in search of a much needed away goal or two which will give the team a breather and freedom of expression on and off the ball.

Zambia carries a slender 2-1 lead and the team that goes through qualifies for the Under 23 championships I Egypt where the top four teams will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
