The 2016 Kopala Derby and what it holds for the Kitwe fans, has come at no time sooner than expected. This Saturday the two Super league and Kitwe giants meet at Scrivener (Nkana) stadium in a bid to sustain their league hopes and maintain the supremacy over the other in an event now increasingly called the Kopala Derby. Apparently also the most interesting derby in the super league Nkana vs Power Dynamos.
But what do the soccer fans expect from the derby Match Day 10 of the 2016 season? Beginning with the visitors, Power Dynamos recently sacked their Head coach Tenant Chilumba for inconsistency and have so far shown progression collecting four points and are now tagged with hopes to maintain and collect maximum points to keep themselves back into the title race.
Power Dynamos` current form remain much to be desired. Their last six games show that the results can go either way unless they have worked on their porous defense. Their current pattern of play does is not on their side if they have to win on Saturday. Dynamos` strength lies in the midfield where the in-form Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, Larry Bwalya and Benson Sakala could prove lethal to supply balls to experienced Luka Lungu, Martin Phiri and the ever criticised Patson Daka.
Power Dynamos Current form:
League Position: 5 Points: 14 Goals scored: 10 Goals conceded: 7 Games played: 9
On the other side, the in-form Nkana who have just lost one game enters the fixture wounded after losing 3 – 1 to Green Buffaloes last weekend. It was their first defeat of the season and Power Dynamos could use that as a weak point to stun them.
Nkana`s striking force is the sharpest in the season so far with nineteen goals and this Saturday they should rely on Walter Bwalya, Freddy Soutra Tshimenga, and Guilly Manziba to get the goals. But Nkana`s weakest department could be in the midfield where Donashano Malama could face potential competition from once teammate Kelvin Mubanga and and the quick Larry Bwalya.
Nkana Current form:
League Position: 1 Points: 18 Goals scored: 19 Goals conceded: 9 Games played: 8
Last season, on one hand of the derby Power Dynamos beat Nkana 2 – 1 at Arthur Davies and Luka Lungu was the scorer of the two goals. Nkana have not forgotten and will be looking to avenge the deficit on Saturday. With derby games you can never predict but on this one, Nkana have an upper hand on this one though Power Dynamos will not let Nkana have it so easily.
