Coach Bruce Mwape has announced the 32-player provisional squad for the Copper Queens of Zambia for the upcoming Turkish Women’s Cup.

The Turkish Women’s Cup is set to take place from the 13th to the 22nd of February in Alanya. Zambia is using the tournament as a crucial part of its preparation for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which kicks off in July.

Unfortunately, according to FAZ Football’s announcement on Facebook, skipper Barbara Banda will not be able to participate in the tournament due to club commitments. The Copper Queens are placed in Group C alongside Spain, Costa Rica, and Japan.

The provisional squad includes a strong line-up of goalkeepers, including Catherine Musonda (INDENI Roses), Eunice Sakala (Nkwazi Queens), Hazel Nali (Fatih Vatan Sport-Turkey), and Loveness Tonge (Prison Leopards).

The defense is well represented by Margaret Belemu (Hakkarigucu Spur-Turkey), Martha Tembo (BIIK Kazygurt Shymkent-Kazakhstan), and Esther Banda (BUSA) among others.

The midfield department includes notable players such as Comfort Selemani (Elite Ladies), Hellen Chanda (BIIK Kazygurt Shymkent-Kazakhstan), Mary Wilombe (Red Arrows), and Susan Banda (Red Arrows).

The attacking department is stacked with talented players like Xiomara Mapepa (Elite Ladies), Jessy Zulu (Green Buffaloes), and Eneless Phiri (Nkwazi Queens).

With such a strong squad, the Copper Queens will aim to make a mark in the tournament and use it as a springboard for their World Cup campaign later in the year. The Turkish Women’s Cup presents an excellent opportunity for the team to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience against some of the best teams in the world.

The provisional squad for the Copper Queens showcases their depth and the talent they possess, and they will be a force to be reckoned with at the Turkish Women’s Cup.
