NKANA CLINCH THIRD POSITION AS ZESCO UNITED CROWNED 2017 LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

Zesco crowned champions of super league 2017

Nkana finished third in the just ended 2017 MTN-FAZ Super Division season with a 4-0 thumping over already relegated Konkola Blades at Nkana Stadium on Saturday.

At Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Zesco United were confirmed champions after beating Mufulira Wanderers 4-2 at the same time relegating Wanderers to division one.

Striker Jesse Were scored a brace while Ching’andu and Kambole netted a goal apiece. Winger Guilly Manziba scored the two goals for Wanderers.

Striker Walter Bwalya put Nkana in front on 16th minute before attacking midfielder Harrison Chisala doubled the advantage on 34th minute.

Nkana went into half time leading by 2-0.

After the break, striker Ronald Kampamba made it 3-0 after benefitting from a Dieugo Apanane cross.

Walter Bwalya scored his second goal of the day on 80th minute taking his goal tally to 12 and making it 4-0 for the home side.

Kalampa concluds the season on 71 points after 38 matches while united ends on 74 points.

Zanaco occupy second slot on 73 points after beating Forest Rangers 2-0 at Sunset Stadium.

Buffaloes completes the top four following their 1-0 lose to Green Eagles in Lusaka with 70 points.
