A grudge battle of Psychatrics looms at Lusaka’s Woodlands Stadium this afternoon as precarious Green Buffaloes face positively charged Forest Rangers.
Green Buffaloes has been nothing but a bunch of mediocrity rising and falling without purpose and will.
They began the league like a house on fire going four games unbeaten with a five-nil bashing of Nkana looking like a decoration to what looked like a dream season for the team that is ever-present in the league but last won it thirty-one years ago.
The lack of purpose and stability in their starting eleven which coach Bilton Musonda keep changing week in week out began to have an oily toll on the soldiers as they kept rolling down the table with draws numbing their grip in the top four.
An embarrassing loss to Young Green Eagles in Choma served as a window through which their cracked spinal code exposed their balance. And the weeks which followed saw the team gasping for breath on number 13 getting into a tricky Forest fixture.
On the other hand, Forest Rangers is a team suffering from similar Psychiatric issues and looking for redemption after an embarrassing attempt in Africa.
Rangers made their maiden Champion’s league appearance in African Football this year but their first attempt was not any romantic as they were told by their neighbours Zesco United.
The Ndola side landed into a gang rape on their first date as they lost 2-0 in Gabon a week after they forced a barren draw in Ndola.
That mediocre display meant Forest dumped out of Africa and the Psychiatric effect it left will only find healing in the league.
They need to keep winning to defend their hard earned glory and pride but facing a Green Buffaloes side looking for the same image building, the Zambia Super league has never been better.
